Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HWP) introduced a low cost color inkjet printer and color scanner. With estimated U.S. retail prices of $99 and $199, respectively, the HP Deskjet 920c color inkjet printer and HP Scanjet 5400c color scanner extend HP’s premier technologies to a rapidly growing segment of the digital imaging market: budget-conscious consumers.
For the first time, HP is enabling customers to print at 2400 x 1200 dots-per-inch (dpi) color resolution, using HP photo paper, on a printer priced below $100. The printer comes with a 100-sheet fold-up paper tray.
The HP Scanjet 5400c color scanner allows consumers to scan at up to 2400-dpi with true 48-bit color to produce fast preview scans in as little as eight seconds. The scanner includes technology that features two sensors that enable consumers to quickly and easily capture detailed color photos and lower resolution text.
The HP Deskjet 920c color inkjet printer and HP Scanjet 5400c color scanner are expected to be available in late January.
