Gateway recently unveiled its Gateway 200, a ultraportable computer that sports a sleek new design and improved usability features.
According to the company, its Gateway 200 is the perfect companion for mobile professionals who want strong portability and a stylish system. The slender Gateway 200 weighs three pounds and measures 0.94 inches thick and comes with standard integrated wireless connectivity using Wi-Fi 802.11b technology, and a V.92 56K modem and 10/100 Ethernet. The dock supports DVD, CD-RW, or DVD/CD-RW combo drives, and the new design promises to let users take advantage of a high capacity battery when the system is docked or undocked.
The Gateway 200 features a Mobile Intel Pentium III Low-Volt Processor-M 933 MHz; a 12.1-inch XGA TFT active matrix display; 256MB of SDRAM, expandable to 384MB; 20GB hard drive and optional high capacity battery. The new notebook comes with Microsoft Windows XP, Home or Professional Edition, Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional and Microsoft Works Suite 2001 or Office XP Small Business Edition or Professional Edition.
The Gateway 200 with integrated wireless and multimedia dock is available now at a starting price of $1,999. The new notebook computer and all of Gateway’s products can be ordered directly from Gateway by calling 800-846-2106, visiting the company’s Web site at www.gateway.com or going to one of the Gateway stores nationwide.
Also, beginning May 1, Gateway expands its Accidental Damage Protection service – previously available for business customers only – to all consumers. In the event of damage, Gateway says that it repairs or replaces the notebook. Accidental Damage Protection service can be purchased to support any of Gateway’s line of portable computers at a starting price of $119 for one year of service.
