Data, Data Everywhere &#151 It’s Got to BeInSync

It’s the end of the day, you’ve got a presentation due tomorrow morning, and it still needs fine-tuning. You e-mail the file so you can work on it at home. Problem is, there’s no file waiting for you. Seems you mistyped your own e-mail address. Now what?

BeInSync, a company based in Tel-Aviv, Israel, today announced BeInSync 1.0, a software program designed to automatically synchronize the data on all of your various computers so that you can access your files no matter where you are &#151 at work, at home or on the road.

How it Works
BeInSync synchronizes data using secure peer-to-peer connections. For example, download the software to your work PC, home PC and your laptop. Then choose which folders you want to synch &#151 your desktop, e-mail, Internet Favorites, My Documents, etc. No matter which computer you use, every time you make a change to a document, save an e-mail or add a contact, those changes are automatically sent to your other PCs.

BeInSync maintains a central server that authenticates BeInSync customers, i.e., the server verifies you are who you say you are. But the direct peer-to-peer connection saves your data on to your machines &#151 it never leaves your control or resides on any third party servers. The company uses 128-bit encryption to ensure security.

Main Benefits

&#8226Data Access
According to a survey BeInSync commissioned from Insight Express, more than 50 percent of SMBs have been stuck at some point without the right file. “You’ll never have to wonder where your data is again,” says Tal Barnoach, the company’s chief executive officer.

“Whether you’re in the office, working at home or traveling to meet with clients, you always have the right data at your fingertips. It’s a great solution for small businesses in particular, because you don’t need to buy expensive hardware or complicated software &#151 or pay an IT staff to support it.”

&#8226Web Access
SMB travelers know the fear of having a laptop stolen at the airport or of leaving it in a cab. The data on that laptop is digital gold. Barnoach asserts that’s no longer an issue because BeInSync lets you access your data from any connected PC running Internet Explorer. “If you’re traveling and your laptop is stolen, you’ve lost the hardware, but you haven’t lost what matters most &#151 your data. “

&#8226Data Sharing
The Insight Express survey also says that 30 percent of SMBs need file-sharing capability. BeInSync lets you create shares &#151 folders that you create and then invite specified co-workers, clients or customers to access.

“It’s a great way to collaborate on a variety of projects, ” says Adi Ruppin, vice president of marketing at BeInSync. “It makes sharing large files, such as graphics, easy, and the automatic synchronization means that everyone always has the most current files.”

Pricing and Availability
BeInsync 1.0 is available as a free download at the company’s Web site for the next 60 days. After that, the software will have a promotional price of $5.95 per month. The price includes a license for up to three computers per user. Look for a hands-on review of BeInSynch on this site in September.

Company executives say that they plan to expand the software to include mobile products in the near future.
