PCWorld: Toshiba Adds WiMAX To Latest Laptops

WiMAX, currently offered in 54 U.S. cities by Sprint and Clearwire, delivers significantly faster data speeds than 3G. The fact that Toshiba has added WiMAX adapters to some of its new models is an indication the technology has arrived.

“Toshiba revamped its laptop lineup this week, and depending on which model you choose, you’ll either get built-in WiMAX support or bolstered gaming performance. Toshiba’s new Qosmio X500 laptop series will come with the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M graphics processor inside, with up to 1.5GB of graphics memory and DirectX 11 support.

Also thrown in for good measure are Dolby Home Theatre speakers, Blu-Ray disc drive options and plenty of ports for all your media needs. Some configurations of this 18.4-inch notebook come with full HD resolution (1920 by 1080) displays. Pricing for the new Qosmio X500 starts at a hefty $1299.99.”
