We’re a nation of convenience junkies. Hooked to the point where microwaving a frozen pizza qualifies as a home-cooked meal. But while we’re apparently willing to sacrifice our health for convenience, does that willingness extend to giving up our control for technological convenience? Apparently Apple, Google and Facebook believe that to be the case.

Technology has created conveniences that we never anticipated, and yet eagerly adopted. Mike Elgan at Datamation looks at three new technologies getting ready to rock our world, and he points out both the good and the bad that comes from relinquishing control for convenience. Check it out, and think about what you’re willing to lose in order to gain.



Silicon Valley is doing what it always does: Re-inventing the future. Like all previous futures, the new future Silicon Valley giants like Apple, Google and Facebook are creating will be a mixed bag of good things and bad.

The PC future gave us power and capabilities previous generations could not have imagined. But it also chained us to our desks, and destroyed our penmanship.
