PCmag@Work (Small Business): RIM Makes It Easy To Push Any Data To BlackBerry

It’s not just e-mail and calendar data anymore. The new programmer tool will allow developers to create custom apps for pushing data from any kind of business application to BlackBerry smartphones.

“Research in Motion has announced it is now offering its BlackBerry Push Service to all third-party app developers, meaning programmers can now push content to end users.

When employed, notifications will pop up on the home screen, letting the user know that one of the apps has new information ready. Then the user can fire up the app, without having to shut down whatever they’re currently doing in order to see the new information.”
