ITBusinessEdege: New SMB Network & Storage Gear From Cisco

The new products include network switches, security firewalls and “smart” storage units. Cisco has been working hard to build products for the under-100-employees SMB category, Mah says.

“Cisco this week rolled out a range of network switch products and a new security wireless router, and announced the addition of online backup support to its NSS 300 Series Smart Storage line for small businesses. Cisco defines the small business segment as companies with fewer than 100 employees, and the company has been working hard to come up with equipment catered to the segment’s unique size.

Cisco 200 Series Smart Switches

There are nine models in the new Cisco 200 Series family of network switches, offering between 24 and 50 ports of Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet capabilities. Available in unmanaged or lightly-managed options, the Cisco 200 Series is positioned as the middle ground between the lower-end unmanaged Cisco 100 series and the managed Cisco 300 series of switches. All models come with support for 2 Combo mini-GBIC GE ports for fiber-optic expansion, and optional (depends on model) Power over Ethernet (PoE) capabilities. According to InformationWeek, the list price for the 200 series starts at $287.”
