“Microsoft upped the stakes in the red-hot phone market Monday, introducing a new version of its Windows software that, unlike its previous offerings in the category, has been built from the ground up with mobile devices in mind.

Perhaps most notably, Windows Phone 7 Series, as the software is called, features a start screen that rejects static icons in favor of real-time feeds from the Internet’s most popular social networking sites, including Facebook and Twitter, as well as other applications.”
