PCmag@Work (Small Business): Lots Of New Tablets – Any iPad Killers?

Tim Bajarin points out that Apple has never relinquished its lead in other markets it commandeered – think iPod – and it’s not likely to relinquish its lead in the tablet market, despite excellent new products from competitors.

“Harry McCracken, my friend at the Technologizer blog site, calls iPad competitors iPadversaries. I think that is a great way to describe all of the tablets I saw last week at CES. Tablets that were released in the shadow of the Apple iPad were plentiful at this big consumer tech show and every one of them wants to take tablet market share away from Apple.

While most of the tablet vendors that showed off new products were non-brand vendors, some of them like Motorola, Visio and Samsung are serious players in the consumer electronics market. But as good as their products might be, all of them individually are going to struggle to eat into any iPad sales in 2011 or even 2012. They could even match Apple’s iPad feature to feature with their devices, plus make a product that is technically better, but they would still fall flat in their effort to gain serious ground against Apple’s iPad juggernaut.”
