Nivio Launches All-in-One User IT Platform for SMBs

Nivio launched a new cloud services suite aimed at getting small and midsized businesses (SMBs) up and running with the business applications they need without spending a fortune on deploying servers or hiring a small army of IT professionals and consultants. And it’s BYOD-friendly, too.

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company this week launched Nivio for Business, its “first product squarely aimed at SMBs” says Nivio’s president, Stuart Collingwood. While it offers a solid foundation of business essentials — with more to come — he adds that “the real advantage is speed of deployment.”

As a result, small businesses won’t have to juggle multiple cloud services for each employee or acquire complex user and mobile application management (MAM) solutions. “The problem that we are trying to solve is something that was acutely felt by SMBs,” says Collingwood.

A Cloud Platform for Small Business

By visiting Navio’s website and going through the simple, guided sign-up procedure, small businesses get “storage, desktop and apps in minutes” boasts Collingwood. Offerings include virtual Windows desktops, Office and a virtual file server.

“We set out to design a platform that would allow an SMB organization to sign up online,” says Collingwood. “It’s a cloud-based service but we have applications for all of your devices,” he adds.

On the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) front, Nivio takes a platform-agnostic approach. The company specializes in delivering cloud services to smartphones and tablets regardless of their brand or underlying operating systems.

“Nivio users can quickly and easily access their cloud-based Windows desktop, plus all their files and software, on nearly any device; from iOS and Android tablets and smartphones to Chromebooks, Kindle Fires, and even public or shared computers,” says the company in press remarks.

Nivio for Business allows businesses to add Windows desktops on-demand and to deliver Windows with Microsoft Office to practically any device (iOS, Android, PCs and Mac) or over the Web using an HTML 5 Web interface.

Management tools allow account holders to “create new desktops, provision software, manage storage and permissions, monitor usage, and run reports,” says the company. Malware protection keeps data safe, adds Nivio.

Available now, Nivio for Business pricing start at $35 per person, per month.
