Loyalty — it’s a quality that small business owners strive to elicit from their customers, and it’s exactly what CompUSA would love to receive from small business. Of course nothing builds customer loyalty better than providing quality products and exceptional service, but a pecuniary enticement to foster that allegiance doesn’t hurt, either.
The national chain has just announced its CompUSA Network for Business, a loyalty-based marketing program aimed squarely at the small office/home office (SOHO) market — a $70 billion demographic according to CompUSA’s Mark Anderson, director of loyalty marketing.
“SOHO is a growing market with important customers for CompUSA. This program helps us do an even better job of meeting their needs and forging a closer relationship,” he said.
The program lets you earn points on purchases you make at CompUSA stores, which you can then exchange for various rewards. “ConnectPoints are the way our members earn rewards. Members earn 13 points on virtually every dollar spent at CompUSA in-store, online or by phone,” said Anderson. “CompUSA Network For Business members can earn a $10 reward after spending as little at $177, or they can choose to let those points accumulate.”
ConnectPoints are good for 36 months from the time they’re issued.
To become a member, you must first sign up and pay a one-time fee of $29.99. CompUSA says it’s currently offering a reduced fee of $19.99 for a limited-time.
Seeking Redemption
When it comes time to redeem your points (CompUSA caps the number of points you can accrue in one year at 500,000), you go to the reward catalog at www.compusanetwork.com, choose your reward and follow the instructions.
That’s the only place you can claim your reward; you can’t redeem your points at CompUSA stores or online at compusa.com and compusabusiness.com.
According to the company, the frequently updated catalog includes leading-edge technology products. Examples of equipment you can trade for points include iPods, digital cameras, DVD players, printers, 19-inch LCD monitors, notebooks, home theater systems and 42-inch flat panel displays.
As the saying goes, membership has its privileges — become a member of the CompUSA Network for Business and receive:
- Points toward CompUSA products
- Free online shipping (standard ground)
- Free annual computer cleaning and tune-up (a $49.99 value)
- Advance notification of sales and events

But Wait, There’s More
The company’s kicking off its new program with a “Win the Ultimate Networking Event” sweepstakes, which runs from September 25 through October 23. The prizes include:
