Terra Lycos announced the launch of two new subscription services that bolster its Small Business offerings. The new Lycos Premium Communities and Lycos Business Intranets, powered by Intranets.com, should offer users a secure, flexible and private way to communicate on the Web.

Lycos’s new Premium Communities provides members with a private Internet area, free of banner ads, where they can communicate with other members, exchange information and post any type of electronic file. In addition to all of the functionality found in current Lycos communities, the Premium Communities include:

– Banner free Web space
– A contact database
– Announcement posting
– Group calendar
– The ability to sync information with Microsoft Outlook or a Palm device
– Wireless access via WAP enabled phones

Lycos Business Intranets provides small and medium businesses and groups with a private password-protected Web space to store, exchange and manage business critical information. Lycos Business Intranets are customizable, which should allow administrators to harmonize the look and feel of the intranet with their own companies’ identity.

Lycos Intranets provide users with communication and productivity tools that include:

– Document sharing
– Group calendars
– Group announcements
– Threaded discussions
– Group polling
– Expense reports

Both Lycos Premium Communities and Lycos Business Intranets offer customer service, including “LivePerson” support, which lets subscribers ask questions and obtain advice in real time in an instant messaging format.

Pricing
The subscription services are $29.95 per month for five users, and $5.95 for each additional user. Users may try these new services for free for 30 days.
