First Look: ACT! WebAccess

Wayne N. Kawamoto
Managing Editor,

Interact Commerce Corporation, the makers of the ACT contact manager and SalesLogix, announced ACT! WebAccess, which enables users to access, update and share their ACT!-based contact information in real-time through their Web browsers.

Whether they are in the office or working remotely, both LAN client users and WebAccess users should be able to simultaneously access the same ACT! databases. The company says that ACT! WebAccess users will see changes made to existing records and new records instantly so all ACT! users, regardless of location, will have up to the second information.

ACT! WebAccess offers the following features:

Up-to-date Information
Users get real-time access to their ACT! information from any computer via a Web browser, without having to sync. Or if they need offline access, they can install the ACT! client, work remotely and later synchronize to the database. The next time they access via the Web, all of their updates will be included.

Familiar Navigation
ACT! WebAccess follows the same workflow as ACT! and contains all of the familiar ACT! functionality, which includes entering and deleting contacts, adding notes and histories, scheduling appointments, entering tasks, managing groups, e-mailing, writing letters and tracking sales/opportunities. Also, All user defined fields from an existing LAN client carry over to ACT! WebAccess.

Field Level Security
Field level security can give remote users different views of the same ACT! information.

Document Sharing
Contact specific attachments may be accessed by all remote and LAN users. ACT! WebAccess also offers a global sales library that stores documents such as price sheets and marketing brochures.
