Email newsletters are an extremely effective small business marketing strategy, but only if your customers actually open the newsletter. If you're lucky enough to have customers (current and prospective) read what you sent, you need to make sure the content is exciting and relevant. These 10 tips, courtesy of eCRMGuide, cut to the chase and help you create email newsletters people want to open, read and act on.


According to Dean Levitt, the head of customer relations and marketing at Mad Mimi, a Brooklyn, New York-based email marketing company, you literally have just seconds to capture customers' attention with your email. And if you email them something with a boring or unhelpful subject line, that looks (or sounds) like spam, or is difficult to read or understand, your email is going to wind up in the trash.
