NiftyClicks: BuySellAds, BookMooch, OVGuide, TextLinkAds

I’m always on the lookout for handy Web sites, tools, software and products. My friends have come to rely upon me as their trusted secret source for the latest and greatest productivity tools and resources. So without further ado, here are this week’s recommendations.

Buy Sell Ads

I’m a big fan of having systems in my business, which is one of the reasons I love BuySellAds.com.

As the name suggests, the site allows you to both buy and sell graphical ads. You can sell ads on your Web site, or buy them on any site that’s listed in the directory. It’s optimized for use with WordPress.

The BuySellAds system has been very well designed and is easy to navigate and use. If you want to sell ads you simply enter your website URL along with a couple of other requested details. As long as your site is getting some traffic and is not selling or doing anything illegal, it should be approved.

If you want to buy ads on other people’s Web sites, you can browse by category, price or stats, such as the Alexa ranking, to find a site that’s the right fit for your product, as well as the right budget. Expect to pay anywhere from $25 to $500 per month, depending on the popularity of the site.

BuySellAds.com is a super easy way to buy and sell ads online.

BookMooch

I love reading, I really do. I try to read around one new book each week. Doesn’t always happen, but that’s my goal. Of course, that can be a costly hobby, and BookMooch.com aims to make it easier for bookworms to feed their habit.

Essentially, it’s a service that helps you to exchange books with others. It’s a “give and take” system that works as follows:

  1. You list books you have to give away
  2. You receive requests from people for your books
  3. You mail your books and receive points
  4. You use those points to acquire books from others.

I did a quick search for books on marketing and found plenty to choose from. I’d like to see images of the covers by default, but if you know what you want BookMooch.com can be a useful service.

Text Link Ads

OVGuide.com

OVGuide.com aims to solve that problem, and it certainly appears to be comprehensive. It lists almost 4,000 Web sites where you can view online videos.

On the left hand side of the page you can browse by categories, or you can use the search box at the top. There’s also an A-Z listing via a link at the very top of the page, and you can suggest a site if you don’t find YOUR video content indexed.

OVGuide.com’s a little clunky but it’s a good start and a much needed concept. I’d like to see easier navigation, with previews of videos within the pages of the guide. But then again, I’m a nitpicker.
