Sony Electronics recently announced its entry level handheld model that will retail for $150. According to the company, the new CLII PEG-SL10 will be ideal for entry-level handheld users and feature a high-resolution (320 x 320), monochrome screen.
For mobile users, the CLII PEG-SL10 handheld will come standard with Palm OS (v.4.1) applications, and Sony’s Jog Dial navigator which allows for single-handed menu and application navigation. Users should be able to transfer Microsoft Word and Excel application documents from their PC to the new handheld using the bundled Documents To Go Standard Edition (DataViz, Inc.), a desktop software for handhelds.
Built for personal information management, the new handheld will come bundled with PictureGear Pocket software for digital image viewing. The unit offers 8MB of internal memory (7MB available), which should let the CLII handheld function as a digital camera through the use of an optional Memory Stick PEGA-MSC1 Camera Module. In addition, the dedicated Memory Stick media slot should provide space for images and games with additional Memory Stick media (sold separately).
This new handheld model will be available in August for about $150 at retailers nationwide or can be pre-ordered at www.sonystyle.com/clie.
