When Windows Live SkyDrive first debuted in 2007, online storage was still a fairly new concept. Flash forward to 2011, and a lot more people use online storage to save photos, documents and any manner of digital files. And Microsoft's free, online storage service -- now simply named SkyDrive -- needed a tech overhaul to improve performance and ease of use.
