The New York Times reports on a new alliance between Avaya and Skype that should eliminate barriers to businesses using the Internet phone system and could mean Skype will be used in call centers in future.
"Businesses that want to use Skype, the Internet calling service, have faced a number of roadblocks over the years.
Yes, they could download the necessary software individually onto workers computers. But the process was cumbersome and the technology couldnt be controlled from a central point as easily as with a traditional telephone system."
