The new routers use a USB key that goes in an available port on computers to be added to the network. A software wizard pops up to guide users through the set-up process.
Cisco has begun selling a new line of wireless routers that promises to bring simple set-up to those who have never heard of an IP address. The company says its new Valet Wi-Fi routers have taken advice from the team that created the intuitively easy-to-use Flip pocket video camera, which made video a breeze to shoot and share. Cisco bought Flip a year ago.
'We have exported Flip thinking into Linksys,' says Scott E. Kabat, director of marketing for Cisco consumer products, referring to the companys Linksys line of home networking products."
