First Look: Samsung's 19-Inch TFT-LCD

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. announced the availability of its 19-inch high-resolution SXGA (1,280 by 1,024 pixels), Patterned Vertical Alignment (PVA) TFT-LCD display that it is positioning as the next-generation desktop standard for high-end PCs.

According to the company, PVA technology provides the new 19-inch TFT-LCD display with a high contrast ratio of 500:1; an enhanced brightness of 250 nits; a fast 25ms response time, capable of running full-frame-rate video; and a wide 170-degree conical viewing angle for easy readability.

The company feels that the new 19-inch TFT-LCD display will accelerate the industry trend towards standardization of flat-panel TFT-LCD displays for PC desktop use, a movement driven by TFT-LCD displays' much smaller bulk, lighter weight, lower power consumption and lower heat generation, than that of CRT displays commonly in use today.
