Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT) has created a new multimedia LCD that combines computing and video functionality into a compact, space-saving display. Furthermore, the new CML155V LCD is the first in Hitachi’s new Designer Decor series featuring a two-tone metallic silver and blue finish to present a sophisticated, designer look in a space saving 8.1-inch deep package (including the base).

Hitachi has designed the CML155V to deliver both A/V and computing functionality in a compact design. It promises high quality, distortion free text and images with both analog and DVI-D inputs for computing applications, while supporting S-Video and RGB composite inputs for video applications. These multimedia inputs should enable easy connectivity to computers, VCRs, camcorders, computers, DVD players or other multimedia devices. To further increase functionality the CML155V enables active switching between two different inputs. So, for example, a computer and a VCR can both be connected to the display and a user can switch back and forth between these devices through the CML155V’s on-screen menu.

Compatible with either PC or Macintosh analog inputs, the CML155V has a .297 mm pixel pitch. It delivers 300-nit brightness and a 500:1 contrast ratio and offers a prime resolution of 1024 x 768 at 60 Hz for both analog and digital inputs. The viewing area is a full 15″ (304 x 228 mm). An auto adjust function may ensure quick image adjustments, while the LCD offers custom controls to adjust brightness, contrast, H/V position, color temperature, and more.

The CML155V weighs 12 lbs and is only 8.1 inches deep, including the base. Speakers and a microphone are built into the front bezel. The panel meets the VESA FPMPMI (Flat Panel Monitor Physical Mounting Interface) standard, which enables wall mounting with third party mounting arms. It also features a Kensington Security Port and is TCO 95′ approved. The CML155V will begin shipping to Hitachi’s authorized monitor distributors immediately with an MSRP of $529.00.
