McAfee Targets SMBs With 'Quick' Services

McAfee on Wednesday rolled out a new a batch of service offerings for small- and mid-sized businesses that want to secure their networks but may not necessarily have the IT resources required to install, monitor and evaluate their security needs.

In practice, McAfee Security QuickStart services will give SMBs full lifecycle service support including implementation assistance, user training, maintenance and optimization of security management best practices.

"We understand the frustration that comes from our SMB customers that don't have enough time or resources to get their products running properly," Greg Spraggins, owner of McAfee reseller NSI Networks, said in a statement. "With McAfee Security Quickstart Services, we can now offer innovative Web training, heathcheck and consulting services that complement our current capabilities for assisting customers in their ongoing use of McAfee technology."

The new service packages can be purchased as either standalone services or in bundled offerings.

It includes one-year of unlimited access to McAfee's (NYSE: MFE) library of product and technology video training modules and something called Quickstart HealthCheck, which helps to automatically assess the security readiness of a company's security policies.

The Quickstart Experts-On-Demand feature gives SMBs access to McAfee remote consultants to assist with the implementation, optimization and configuring of McAfee's security software suite.

"Our research shows organizations that put more effort into preventing attacks can end up spending less than a third as much as those that allow themselves to be at risk," Darrell Rodenbaugh, senior vice president of global midmarket for McAfee, said in a statement. "We understand that SMBs have limited resources and expertise, so we're giving them what they need to get up and running quickly, for very little cost."

Bundled packages will include the McAfee Security Quickstart Pack for Endpoint Protection, the McAfee Security Quickstart Pack for Total Protection for Secure Business and the McAfee Security Quickstart Combo Pack for ePolicy Orchestrator.
