Dell announced its Dimension 2300, a new desktop system that's squarely aimed toward small businesses and homes. The $629 system includes a 1.7GHz Intel Celeron processor, 128MB shared SDRAM, 20GB hard drive, CD-ROM drive, and 15" (13.8" viewable) monitor. The system comes standard with a 1-year limited warranty plus 1 year at-home service.
According to the company, its Dimension 2300 can handle a range of tasks such as running educational software and games, accessing the Internet, managing e-mail, and other business and personal productivity applications. In addition, the increased processing power of the Celeron processor and integrated graphics may enable customers to use it for basic digital photography or managing their digital music collection.
Dell complements the hardware with software that includes Dell Jukebox for managing digital music; Dell Picture Studio for organizing and sharing digital images; and six months of Internet access via America Online (new members only) or DellNet by MSN membership.
