NEC Solutions America, Visual Systems Division, has announced a series of new projectors due in the fall of 2002 that will all incorporate 802.11b networking for easy connections with any wireless PC filled with presentations.
The DLP-based LT220, LT240 and LT260 projectors, part of NECs portable line (each is only 6.5 lbs), as well as the higher-end, LCD-based MT1060 and MT1065, will use ImageXpressT, a technology for continuous communication between the projector and a PC, either via 10BaseT or Wi-Fi. With the wireless, multiple laptops can have presentations ready and there's one touch switching between computers.
The MT projectors are larger at 12 lbs and have a brightness ratings of 2300 and 3000 ANSI lumens. Both support XGA resolution (1024 x 768).
NEC is not the first to put 802.11b into projectors: networking company Linksys recently announced a Wireless Presentation Gateway (WPG11) to help get PowerPoint users up and running with any networkable projector. .
